Position Summary

The Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing patient referrals while ensuring timely scheduling, insurance compliance, and exceptional patient service. This role serves as the primary liaison between referring providers, patients, insurance companies, and clinical staff to facilitate seamless access to specialty allergy and immunology care. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage patient referrals, ensuring accurate and timely processing. 
  • Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies to obtain necessary referral information. 
  • Schedule appointments for referred patients and provide them with necessary information regarding their visits. 
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all referrals and related documentation. 
  • Follow up with patients and providers to ensure completion of the referral process. 
  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to referrals. 
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, office staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care. 
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to patients and their families. 
  • Monitor and report referral activity, trends, and performance metrics to management. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of referral policies and procedures.
