Position Summary
SENTA Partners is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll & Onboarding Specialist to join our growing team in Atlanta, GA. This role plays a key part in ensuring a seamless employee experience - from pre-employment through separation - by managing payroll accuracy, onboarding coordination, and employment record maintenance within the HRIS.
The Payroll & Onboarding Specialist will take ownership of the pre-employment and onboarding process, including offer letters, background checks, and new hire documentation within the HRIS. In partnership with the Payroll Manager, this role will also process bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees, administer benefit enrollments and deductions, maintain time and attendance records, and serve as a primary resource for payroll-related inquiries. Additionally, the Specialist will support reporting, audits, and departmental initiatives that enhance compliance, data integrity, and operational efficiency across SENTA’s workforce. This is an in-office position at our Support Services Center in the Atlanta/Sandy Springs location.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Electronically process new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, direct deposits, etc.
- Electronically process benefit enrollments, such as the group health plans, PTO, and other voluntary benefits.
- Interacts with employees and managers to proactively address and resolve payroll issues.
- Responds to payroll-related inquiries, including, but not limited to payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments, and employment verifications, etc.
- Provides maintenance of employees in the Time and Attendance system, verifies hours and follows through with managers on issues.
- Take ownership of the pre-employment and onboarding process, including requisition maintenance, offers, background checks, and maintaining candidate documentation within HRIS.
- Support continuous improvement by documenting workflows, identifying process inefficiencies, and assisting with the development of process maps and standard operating procedures.
- Works closely with the Payroll Manager regarding tax filings, system updates, proper processing in the system, etc.
- Run regular payroll reports (e.g., Payroll Labor Reporting) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ensures compliance with audit control objectives (e.g., workers compensation audits, 401k audits, etc.).
- Processes Stop Voids, Stop Payments, Manual Checks.
- Processes 401k contributions in a timely manner.
- Maintains payroll back-up per established guidelines.
- Participates in the processes that affect payroll during acquisitions activities.
- Assists with departmental projects.
