Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manager of Payroll and Benefits Administration to join our Human Resources team. The Manager of Payroll and Benefits Administration will be responsible for managing all payroll and benefits administration activities to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and benefits transactions (e.g., garnishments, taxes, benefits enrollments, 401(k) and other deductions). This role requires a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal laws related to payroll and employment.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage all payroll and benefits administration operations, ensuring all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  2. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  3. Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to the Director of Finance.
  4. Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
  5. Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc.).
  6. Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive payroll records.
  7. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  8. Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors, e.g., 401(k), w/c, etc. 
  9. Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  10. Ensure timely benefits enrollments and terminations in internal and payor systems.
  11. Lead system set up and benefits administration for Annual Open Enrollment.
  12. Answer incoming questions and resolve employee payroll/benefits issues. 
  13. Partner with the HR Team colleagues on process improvements to enhance departmental performance  and employee experience.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience managing all payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  3. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  4. Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  5. Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels.
  6. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
  7. Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects.
  8. Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  9. CPP designation preferred. Experience with integration payroll operations is a plus.
