The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department.  Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and produce financial reports or statements, as well as, establishing and enforcing proper accounting method, policies and principles.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting the Controller in overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist the Controller in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization.

- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.

- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.

- Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and financial policies.

- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

- Oversee accounts payable functions.

- Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives and special projects.

- Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting financial operations.

 

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA certification preferred.

- Big Six audit experience preferred.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance (experience in  healthcare or medical practice setting, a plus).

- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

- Experience with financial audits and compliance.
