Position Summary:

The Allergy Technician plays an integral part in assisting in the delivery of high-quality allergy care to patients. This role involves performing allergy testing, administering allergy immunotherapy, and providing patient education under the supervision of a physician. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for patient care.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform allergy testing, including skin prick tests, intradermal tests, and patch tests.
  • Administer allergy immunotherapy injections and sublingual immunotherapy treatments.
  • Prepare and mix allergen extracts according to physician protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including test results and treatment plans.
  • Educate patients on allergy testing procedures, treatment plans, and allergy management.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions to allergy tests and treatments and provide appropriate care as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide coordinated patient care.

 

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or related certification preferred
  • CPR certification is preferred
  • Previous experience as an Allergy Technician or in a similar clinical role is highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
