Position Summary
The Sleep Technician plays a crucial role in conducting sleep studies to help diagnose and treat sleep disorders. The technician is responsible for preparing patients, performing polysomnography, and ensuring accurate data collection and analysis. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, empathetic, and passionate about improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and prepare patients for sleep studies, ensuring proper application of electrodes and other monitoring devices.
- Monitor patients during sleep studies, including managing polysomnography equipment and troubleshooting any issues.
- Record and document relevant patient data, including sleep stages, events, and any abnormalities observed.
- Educate patients on sleep studies, procedures, and what to expect during the process.
- Ensure patient comfort and address concerns during sleep testing.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality diagnostic care.
- Assist with scoring sleep studies for physician review.
- Maintain and clean equipment according to safety and infection control guidelines.
- Complete accurate and thorough documentation in patient records.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay up to date on the latest practices in sleep technology.
