Position Summary:
The Allergy Technician will assist in the delivery of high-quality allergy care to patients. This role involves performing allergy testing, administering allergy immunotherapy, and providing patient education under the supervision of a physician. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform allergy testing, including skin prick tests, intradermal tests, and patch tests.
- Administer allergy immunotherapy injections and sublingual immunotherapy treatments.
- Prepare and mix allergen extracts according to physician protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including test results and treatment plans.
- Educate patients on allergy testing procedures, treatment plans, and allergy management.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to allergy tests and treatments and provide appropriate care as needed.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
- Order and manage inventory of allergy testing and treatment supplies.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide coordinated patient care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program or related certification preferred.
- Previous experience as an allergy technician or in a similar clinical role is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of allergy testing methods, immunotherapy protocols, and related medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- CPR certification is preferred.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
